There are books that come through our household and quickly pass on through as soon as they are read for reviews. Journeys of Faithfulness is not one of them. It is being placed on the for-when-she's-a-teen-shelf for my daughter.
Astounded.
Gripped.
Those are two words that adequately describe the writing of Sarah Clarkson. Her writing is reminiscent to Anne Voskamp, an extraordinary thing and highest compliment I can give. This style provides rich imagery, both mentally and emotionally and triggers a desire for more -- more faith, more of God, more relationship with God. That is the cry of my heart as a mother for my daughter and I anticipate the day we can read this aloud and work through it together.

There are two sections per chapter. Sarah first writes a fiction narrative of chosen women in the Bible, weaving an almost magical, if not beautiful, story around Biblical fact. This is then followed by a personal devotional taken from Sarah's own life journey and walk with God, followed up by a Bible study section, complete with areas for writing, that assists your daughter in digging into the word. An area for journaling follows this section, with adequate pages, even for a prolific writer.
All this combined and Journeys of Faithfulness of faithfulness becomes a record of a part of a young women's faith journey. A mile marker, perhaps an "altar of remembrance" in years to come.
It must also be noted, that while meant for young women of the faith, grown women will also find themselves challenged and inspired when working through this book.
