The Ale Boy's Feast

The Ale Boy's Feast: A NovelI had wanted to have this finished up by the time this tour came, but I got it later than usual in the mail and still have a quarter of the book to go. I really wanted to add in my thoughts about how the entire series wrapped up, but I'll have to save that for a later time. Other participants may have those thoughts, per the list at the bottom.

In the meantime, I will say that The Ale Boy's Feast: A Novel (The Auralia Thread) by Jeffrey Overstreet carries a dream-like quality within it's pages. If the reader has a vivid imagination, they can picture the dank underground the prisoners are trying to find their way out of or the walls of Aurelia's Cave. Jeffrey has an exceptional gift for creating imagery with words and his books are a treat to read for those who love that kind of writing.

In the 3/4 of the book I have read, I would say the pervading theme is "coming into one's own."  From the Ale Boy to Jordam to Cal-Raven to even villians like Ryllion, they are on a journey for who they are meant to be or who they should have been. While I am not eager for the book to end, I am eager to find how each one finds their fulfullment.

The entire series should be made into movies like Lord of the Rings or the Narnia books. A movie producer has a rich cast of characters and a world of fantasy they could create on the screen from Overstreet's writing.

As I have all the other book in this series, I give The Ale Boy's Feast a 5 out of 5 rating.
